I just returned from hanging out with people whom I consider to be “Top Dogs” in the online business world. They blew my mind with everything that was in their minds.
Smart. Savvy. Sharp.
I learned so much from them. I wanted to bring them all home with me!
And still, there were several in that group who hadn’t fully protected their own businesses. Several confided in me that they’d had their content and course materials stolen, right from under their noses.
Just like that.
Then there were more stories… people knew people who had lost tens of thousands of dollars because they’d inadvertently used a picture that was copyright protected.
Or they were using a business name that was already trademarked and had to take the whole business down.
So, what’s going on?
Aristotle said that the law was reason free of passion.
I think that entrepreneurs like us are full of passion, and sometimes we forget all about reason.
So here’s a friendly nudge. Cover your assets online. Make sure you’ve got your business’s legal ducks, and docs, in a row.
Because passion AND reason absolutely must coexist when it comes to building a successful and well-protected online business.
