If you're holding an in-person event, you need to get a signed Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk Agreement from everyone who attends. 

This protects you, your business, and your personal assets (your home, your car, your retirement fund) from liability claims.

And no, don't expect your home insurance policy to cover you, even if your event is in your home.  

This simple document can go a long way towards covering your assets. Make sure to get everyone at your event to sign it.
